Winemakers’ comments
A beautifully assembled Bordeaux quartet. The wine has a brilliant deep ruby colour, a complex nose of black cherries, violets, mocha, and just a hint of classic French oak. Gentle spice, freshness and plentiful black berry fruit is given structure by silky, polished tannins, which enhance the excellent ageing potential of the wine.
Vinification
From Bartinney’s 8 blocks of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the best barrels were selected to create the foundation for ‘Elevage’. Harmonised with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot, this wine captures the essence of the vintage.
The Blend: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 5% Malbec
The different cultivars were matured in French oak barrels for 12 months, 50% were new and 50% second and third fill. After blending, the wine spent a further 6 months in the same barrels.
*A minimum order of 6 bottles (one case) is required.
