What’s a good wine to order? What wine should I take back home?

From Su Birch’s Taste Trip article.

I’m often asked to recommend a “good” wine, and my answer is always that a good wine is whatever you enjoy drinking. It’s trite but it’s true. Nonetheless, when my overseas guests insist on a recommendation, I show them this list of wineries who produce good examples of favourite varieties. It was compiled by Lynne Sherriff M.W. and other Tastetrip experts. (N.B. The areas shown in brackets do not necessarily indicate Wine of Origin, rather the location of the cellar.)

Choosing a Chardonnay?

Ataraxia (Hemel en Aarde)
Bartinney (Stellenbosch)
Boschendal (Franschhoek)
Cape Chamonix (Franschhoek)

Eikendal (Stellenbosch)
Glen Carlou (Paarl)

Hamilton Russell (Hemel en Aarde)
Jordan (Stellenbosch)
Moreson (Franschhoek)
Neil Ellis (Stellenbosch)
Paul Cluver (Elgin)
Richard Kershaw (Elgin)
